Share the Wisdom is a program to educate and empower young leaders in the Durham community by exposing them to the experience and wisdom of Ms. Ann Atwater. A longtime community activist and organizer, Ms. Atwater has been featured in the book, The Best of Enemies, which was required reading for all incoming freshmen at Duke University for the 2007-08 academic year. Share the Wisdom aims to expose a broader spectrum of the Durham community to Ms. Atwater’s wisdom and to empower future leaders to follow in her footsteps. Toward that end, Ms. Atwater mentors college students, community organizers, local church groups, and individuals in transition, inviting them into the tradition of grassroots community organizing that she learned through the freedom movements of the 1960’s and 70’s.
